For more than six decades, artist John “Jack” Penczar, affectionately known as Papa Jack, has been drawing, painting, creating, and collecting ideas. What began as a personal passion has grown into an extraordinary archive of more than 5,000 original hand-drawn illustrations created throughout his artistic journey.

These aren't designs pulled from a stock library or mass-produced graphics created for a trend.

They are pieces of a life’s work.

Today, The Penczart Archive gives those works a new life by transforming selected original artwork into fine art, home décor, wearable art, gifts, and everyday treasures.

Meet Papa Jack

Jack is a self-taught artist whose creative journey began more than 65 years ago.

His work reflects a lifetime of curiosity, observation, imagination, and experimentation. Over the years, he has created artwork in many styles and explored countless subjects—from the beauty and character of the Southwest to abstract designs, animals, nature, people, patterns, and the unexpected ideas that simply needed to be put on paper.

He never set out to create a “collection.”

He simply kept creating.

And he kept saving the artwork.

That collection eventually became what we now call The Penczart Archive.

One of the most exciting parts of the Archive is discovering artwork that may have been created decades ago and finding a way for it to fit into life today.

The word Penczart combines the Penczar name with Jack's lifelong commitment to art.

But “Archive” is the important part.

The Penczart Archive represents decades of artwork, ideas, sketches, illustrations, experiments, and creative discoveries that might otherwise remain tucked away in boxes and portfolios.

We believe those works deserve to be seen.
